I had one afternoon in Zurich and unfortunately I had a cold as well. I needed to do some shopping so...
I ran up to the room and dropped off my bags. Down to the concierge to ask where the shopping district was so that I could get some swiss chocolate and pick up a gift for Jodi. Turns out that the shopping district was on the other side of the train station from where I had just come.
So I took a nice stroll along the river... of which I do not know the name... back to the railroad station and the shopping district.
Along the way, I passed the Swiss national museum. No time to dally, off to shop & then back to bed. This was the most sunshine I would see during my entire trip.
Through the train station... later, on the way home, I would stop here to have a burger at Burger King (I am so ashamed...).
Yay, on the other side of the train station was the shopping district. Within an hour, I had everything I needed and headed back to the hotel.
Back, through the train station, past a statue of somebody I never heard of.
Once again along the river to the hotel, where I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening in bed with my cold. the next morning I flew back to Dayton. So, that was my day in Zurich.
That is all that I have to say about Zurich.

Hi Tim,
I guess the name of the river is Limmat and the statue you saw was the Alfred Escher Statue (built in 1889). Escher was a famous swiss polition, industrialist and jurist.
What a pitty that the weather was so bad, but to be honest we had also not so nice weather in Italy. The pictures I've put on the blog with the sun where taken on one morning - the rest was foggy as well.
The cold you had I now have and Katie as well - the only one who still is in beautiful condition is our little sunshine. We've played two hours with his railroad today - I absolutely will call him a destroyer from now on. But anyway he had fun and that is the most important thing. I'm happy to hear that Jodi is feeling better. When I look at my ankle I think it still is thicker than the other - and my accident was more than 20 years ago.
