Worth a Million Words

We recently had the chance to celebrate Mom & Dad's 50th anniversary with a fancy party at their home in Georgia. To honor the event, I spent weeks going through boxes of old family photos that I was using as content for a book about their life together. I passed away hours looking at familiar images with familiar stories attached to them in my memory. The big surprise was coming across a small collection of snapshots that I had never seen before. Pictures of my parents when they had a life of their own, before my Kelly, Scott, and I were born.

 The pictures highlighted a part of their rich lives that I had never imagined. They were young and vibrant. I saw pictures of them with friends laughing and having fun. Pictures of them as a couple just beginning the grand adventure that would be their marriage. Like all marriages, they struggled and succeeded in turn, laughed and cried together as they fought to make the most of what life threw at them. The images that I stared at were powerful in their black and white  elegance and let me understand in some small way, just how innocent and optimistic their beginning was. A million words indeed.

Hello all,

as I mentioned before we have been in Portugal for a week. We've been there with some friends of us. Marion is one of Tim's godmothers. We had a great time and it was really warm there. Approx. 20°C more than we have here now. Little Tim loves water in any way. He was several times in the Atlantic and we could get him out only with complaining. He was screeming with fun - you should have seen that. The picture of the house was he one we've rented. The one with the sunrise was the view from our sleeping room. The one with the lightlouse is the most southwest point of Europe (Islands not counted). The rest is nature and of course our littel sunshine. Please enjoy.

So what is going on in the Akien Family??

Well y'all it has been a long time since we have seen each other. and I can't wait to get together for Thanksgiving. There has been a whole lot going on in our neck of the woods. For starters my entire famly except for me has contractedH1N1, but we are all good by now. It was a rough weekend to say the least.

I have told dad, but I will tell the rest of you now, My grandmother on my mother's side had a minor heart attack. She is fine now, but keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We have decided to go visit them for Thanksgiving Day. My mom has been shaken up by this pretty bad.

But on to some happy news, Rachel is doing great at lacross and has had some colleges scout for her. She is super excited mainly because her favorite school, University of North Carolina came down this past weekend and to watch her play, and she scored 4 goals, while playing on defense.

I am hard at work in school, and at Game Stop. I love the store and all of the games. I love it so much that I decided to change my major to Computer Science and Game Design.

Diana is doing great, and is loving Home Depot, and KSU. She thought about changing her major to enviromental science, but then decided she still lover Psychology more. I am so happy that she is doing great. We just celebrated our 4 year anaverisy in Sept. It was a lot of fun, I took her to a play at the fox theatre.

Unfortunally I have to leave cause my teacher is teaching now. So love yall(yes even my German friends). Ohh and for our german friends:yall means you all.
